Approaching Lizard Island
This is a photo from my trip to Lizard Island Research Station on the Great Barrier Reef in 2010. The light aircraft typically approach the island group from the south and then bank sharply before Palfrey Island (in the foreground) before landing in the valley in the middle of Lizard Island (Background). The research station where I work is visible as a tiny cluster of buildings in the nearest point of Lizard Island.
